Just do it: Nike’s all-American summer yoga camps for kids

Y

oga has now muscled its way into the all-American
summer camp.
The traditional view of the annual ‘camp’ – in a
woodland setting with hiking, canoeing, and campfires

  • looks set to be evolving.
Now, kids and teenagers can expect downward dogs and deep
breathing in addition to all the usual outdoor activities. The latest
style to be added to the list is SUP Yoga.
Behind it all is the sports brand, Nike, which is breaking boundaries
with the largest camp network for kids rolling out in new locations
across the USA. The goal is to promote “a lifelong enjoyment of
athletics through quality sports education and skill enhancement” as
well as have fun, it says.
Yoga camps are being offered for kids, teens, and tweens in new
locations this year including New Jersey, New York, and Texas as

well as established sites in California, Connecticut, Illinois, North
Carolina, and Vermont.
Other weeks offering more traditional sports like basketball and
baseball are also available.
Nike Yoga Global Ambassador, Leah Kim, has been a major camp
influencer since day one and personally developed Nike Yoga
Camps’ kids yoga training curriculum that is used at all locations,
including top studio partners YogaWorks Northern California and
The Dailey Method North Shore Chicago.
With the culmination of Kim’s curriculum and the area’s best
studios, Nike Yoga Camps provide high-level instruction incorporated
with fun activities to help young athletes stay active, develop body
awareness, build concentration, and manage stress.
Hey, if it gives kids a passion for yoga and the great outdoors,
then it’s got to be a good thing.
