What makes a great teacher?
If you’re passionate about yoga,
then you’re already qualified to
be ‘great’ when you start yoga

ou know the saying: some
are born great, some achieve
greatness, and some have
greatness thrust upon them.
That’s what Shakespeare said.
But there are no rules to greatness when it
comes to yoga teaching either.
Whatever your style, your background,
or your size, there’s no reason you can’t
deliver the very best, most inspirational
class to your students anytime, anywhere.
All teachers are great in some unique way.
We are all different and we all have different
gifts to share.
Let’s face it, if you truly love yoga, and
can allow that natural enthusiasm to shine
through to your students, then you’re half
way there. Again, if you love your yoga,then you’ll also retain that desire to learn
more each and every step of the way.
The best teachers are always students
themselves, first and foremost; there really
is no end to what you can learn.
Maybe it’s better then to look at this
question (what makes a great yoga teacher?)
through the eyes of your students. If they
walk home with big grins on their faces after
a class, or float out on an invisible cloud of
inner calm and contentment, then you’re
probably on the right track. Lift them up,
guide them and support them – and do it
consistently, week in, week out – and you’ll
soon be the talk of the yoga town.
Here’s what another great mind,

teachers are those who show you where tolook, but don’t tell you what to see.” All you
have to do is buddy up with your students,
take their hand, and partner with them for
a short while in class as they explore their
world through yoga. Each and every one of
us (you, other teachers, other students) is
on our own personal journey, rolling along
at our own pace.
We’re all in this together. Simply share
your own unique insight into life, bring
in your own yoga expertise, do it all in a
sincere and loving way, and you can’t go
