Twisted One Legged Arm Balance (Eka Pada Koundinyasana I)
om beginnings
INTRODUCTION:
Eka Pada Koundinyasana I (twisted one legged arm balance) is a
challenging arm balance that requires a strong core, shoulders and
legs. It will test your balance, focus and concentration. Avoid if you
have a lower back or wrist injury as well as during pregnancy.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Start from a strong and stable Parsva Bakasana (our intermediate
pose). Ensure that you are pressing the hands firmly into the mat
and drawing your elbows in towards your midline, so that you don’t
collapse. Start to straighten into both of your legs, extending your right
leg forward and your left leg back. Extend through the balls of your feet
engaging your quadriceps. Keep lifting through your chest. Stay for five
full breaths before repeating on the other side.
