yoga for children

Sue Woodd, who co-founded a seasonal
yoga teacher training school, now has a
seasonal yoga programme in place for children,
called Club Morgan (club-morgan.com).
How exciting that nature gives us a toolbox
of integrated health and exercise systems for
body, mind and spirit to share with children
and young people, she says.

“It dates back over three thousand years
when the ancient Chinese invented a system
of illness prevention through observing
nature, energy and the seasons.”
Energy that is suppressed or repressed
in a child will always find an alternative
way to express itself, and if blocked or
misunderstood, can often take the form
of a negative or inappropriate action or
behaviour, she adds.
In recent years, an ever-increasing amount
of adults have benefited from the practices
borne out of ancient wisdom, the study of
nature and our energetic anatomy.
So by introducing these concepts as fun
activities for children, it means that we are
giving them a strong personal foundation and
the best possible start in life, says Woodd.
“By helping children to channel such
energy through seasonal yoga and relaxation
they will learn to balance it appropriately and
it ceases to become something that is out of
their control.”
