5 ways to transform the mundane into
moments of easy yoga bliss. By Christine Chen

here’s a reason the old Bill Murray
movie Groundhog Day strikes a
chord with so many of us. Each
day it seems we hit the ‘repeat’
button and launch ourselves into
another day of mundane tasks that need to
get done if we’re to be responsible, socialised
human beings.

But what if the items on your ‘repeat’ list
could be transformed into moments that are
less dull and more beneficial? What if the most
uninviting parts of your day could invite in bits
of stress and pain relief, and a little joy, too?
Yoga teaches us that the more we balance
effort with ease, the closer we are to bliss.
Following, are five yogic ways to be more

mindful when life seems mundane. These are
adaptations of just a few practices from my
book, Happy-Go-Yoga, simple poses to relieve
pain, reduce stress, and add joy. I did these
when I couldn’t get to yoga class to bring
yoga into every part of my life. Try these to
transform the mundane into more bliss for
