WINNING GOLF
Create your
competition round
routine now
A common mistake amateurs make
is waiting right up until the day of
a competition before deciding they
want to prepare seriously for the club
championship. However, suddenly
deciding you’re going to go to bed
early the night before and arrive at the
course two hours ahead of your tee
time to hit 100 balls can throw you out
of your comfort zone and actually
harm your chances of winning rather
than improving them. If you’re
motivated about winning, start
preparing now. Most major club
events take place in the summer so
you have two to three months to
establish a game-day routine that
works for you. This means you need to
start thinking about:
Q How much sleep you need
Q When you are going to eat – before
and during your round
Q How early you should arrive at the
course before your competition tee
time
Q How to most effectively use your
45-minute pre-round warm-up time
