DEVELOPLONG-RANGEFEEL
ANDSHORT-RANGEFOCUS
PRACTICE
Two things that are
guaranteed to destroy a
scorecard are three-putting
from long range and
missing short putts. Here’s
how to attack those two
problem areas.
Long range
control/feel
There’s no magic solution
for enhancing your feel.
You have to work at it. If
your expectation is to roll
40-footers stone dead
without any practice,
you’re being unrealistic.
There are many ways to
practise long putts, but
this is my favourite. Create
a zone two feet beyond
the hole. Starting 10ft
away, attempt to roll three
balls into your zone.
Progress to 15ft, 20ft, 25ft
and 30ft.
If at any time you fail to
find your zone, start again.
QAvoid hitting too many
long putts from the same
distance. Train your brain
and eyes to react to
different length putts
QRecreate the on-course
pressure. Make sure there
are consequences if you
miss your goals
QMake sure your practice
has measurable goals
