‘Keep your pitching action

symmetrical for more consistency’

BERND WIESBERGER

Amateurs don’t build enough
precision into their short game.
They rely on feel to get the ball
close. It works occasionally, but
not all the time, because you’re

not building consistency into
your technique. You must have
an element of repeatability
when pitching – and this begins
by ensuring the follow-through

is a mirror image of the
takeaway. This helps you be
precise on different distances,
and improves the quality of your
strike as well. Work out how far

you carry the ball with your 56°
wedge with these three swing
lengths. Once you’re happy with
that, add more distances by
using your other wedges.

TOUR TIPS

Swinging the

the ground on the
way back and the
way through
sends the ball
about 30 yards.
