Testimonial
I have loved this course and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
The teachers are so knowledgeable and brilliant at bringing out the
best in you. The posture workshops, lectures, food!, all exceptional.
It’s been a privilege to be part of the group.

om yoga teacher training guide

after all we are spiritual yogis. This is a very
important tip!

Workshops
Getting into the groove of creating
unique workshops presents marvellous
opportunities to boost your income. To
benefit financially and build awareness
a good rule of thumb would be to run a
workshop every month. Coming up with
signature themes to help your students on
or off the mat is key to marketing success.

Yoga retreats
Running local and international yoga
retreats is excellent fun and such a
powerful cog in building a yoga community.
However, be warned they are hard work
and not always lucrative. Start with a local
retreat to build up your following, experience
and confidence. Yoga retreats can be mighty
tough to get students booked onto but so
rewarding both financially and emotionally
when it works. Finding a venue that is willing
to support you as you grow is golden.
Make sure you have all your costs nailed
and pricing contracts clearly laid out with
the venue. Ask for a small deposit from
your students to get confirmation of their
interest. Offer your students a payment
plan – this will help them slowly pay for
the retreat.

Specialised yoga
Find a niche in the market and develop a
specialised class series. Maybe to conquer
stress in the workplace, a class especially
for nurses, school teachers, new mums

with their babies or maybe a restorative
and sound session for those recovering
from illness. There are so many ideas, go
with what resonates with your community
and follow your intuition. If you get your
marketing spot on the class series will be of
a high value to your students and they won’t
be able to resist booking on.

Online yoga studio
Positioning yourself online is the future.
With a little research and focus building a
library of online yoga classes, workshops,
podcasts, and e-books will come easily to
you with no major investment other than
time. Live streaming yoga is also where
it’s at. Private 1 – 1 yoga sessions would
work well on a live stream. Technology is
becoming so easy to use and we can marry
it up with yoga to make yoga accessible
for everyone reaching out of the local
community to the global community.

Be indispensible at the local studio
Think outside the box and ask your local
studio if you can be of service to them other
than teaching classes.
How about a yoga advisor who helps
students find the right yoga class/teacher,
looking after new students and spreading the
word on upcoming workshops? Or do you
have a knack with social media? You could
put yourself forward to become responsible
for the yoga studio’s social media.
