Celebration day

International Yoga Day takes place later

this month on June 21. The idea (like

yoga itself) originates from India but has

been adopted by the United Nations

and is now celebrated in hundreds of

countries all over the world. Watch out

for local events wherever you are. In

London, a major - and free - gathering is

taking place on the Sunday before (June

18) in the grounds outside the iconic

Alexandra Palace. Head down there for

free yoga classes, healthy eats and good

vibes all day long.

Beer yoga
Who’d have thought that beer and
yoga would make good bedfellows? But
according to Germany’s BierYoga (aka
BeerYoga) it’s not such a stretch of the
imagination. The company bills itself as the
“marriage of two great loves – beer and
yoga. And on its website it states “both are
centuries-old therapies for mind, body and
soul.” Popular among Berlin hipsters, it’s
now making its way around the world. “The
joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of
yoga complement each other, and make
for an energising experience.”
