WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TO
MAKING A LIVING
I have run my own business for the last 14
years. It is essential to have clear goals along
with a detailed plan for achieving these. I
work with yearly, weekly and daily planners
and have a promotional plan running
concurrently to ensure events are effectively
communicated. I try to keep on top of book-
keeping and work with an accountant who
ensures I meet all my legal deadlines. I also
make a conscious effort to be kind, friendly
and respectful to everyone I meet.

WHAT’S YOUR NICHE
I work with athletes who have muscular
restrictions in their bodies caused by
repetitive movements in their chosen sport. I
mostly work with youth academy players at
Everton Football Club, however, I have also
taught professional dancers and several
Olympians including cyclists, swimmers and
runners. I am passionate about teaching
time-honoured yoga techniques to athletes
to help them move better, feel better and
perform better.

WHO DO YOU ADMIRE
I admire the athletes I teach. Many of them
are teenagers and the self-discipline and
dedication they demonstrate on a daily
basis is inspirational. I have learned to listen
keenly to their comments and feedback; they
have taught me a lot! I also admire Sarah
Ramsden, for raising the profile of yoga in
sport, and for keeping standards high.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU
I’m currently studying an MSc in psychology
with a specific interest in positive psychology.

daily habits such as mindfulness and
gratitude can improve your outlook on life,
reduce anxiety and boost your mood. I hope
to share what I learn with the students I
teach. Also, I hope to see more academic
research into the benefits of practicing yoga
and positive psychology within sport and the
wider population.

FUTURE TRENDS
Mindfulness is a huge buzzword at the minute.
Scientific research is proving it can reduce
anxiety and boost mental wellbeing. For me,
yoga and mindfulness are one and the same.
I hope yoga continues to grow as a vehicle
for teaching mindfulness and that more
communities benefit from its results.
