mantra is real-world, real-world, real-world.

The only way to find out if a piece of hardware

deserves your loathing or lust is to test the

hell out of it, and that’s what we do best. This

month, each editor retired to the Lab with hard-

ware from his or her beat, then devised a series

of fiendishly clever tests to separate the winners

from the wimps, the wheat from the chaff, the
