January is a new year, a new cycle. It comes from the Latin for ‘door’, as it’s seen as an opening
to new beginnings. Time to say goodbye to the past and usher in the new. The perfect essential
oil to help us let go of the past is lemongrass oil, cymbopogon citratus. The light, citrus aroma
brings a much-needed freshness to the month and helps remove any leftover heaviness or over
indulgences from last month’s festivities.
Lemongrass oil is a wonderfully purifying oil. It purifies not only the body and mind but also
the soul. It also helps banish any negativity from the home, helping to remove the past and
enabling you to move forwards and into the new year.
To refresh yourself this month, place two drops of lemongrass oil with four drops of
peppermint in a diffuser and let the aroma fill your home or space with this uplifting, cleansing
blend, allowing the oils to shift the energy and clear the mind. Allow yourself to sit quietly and let
the oils help you to see more clearly and make more informed choices.
Lemongrass oil is also wonderful at soothing aching muscles or sore joints. Place a drop in
some coconut oil and rub well into the affected area. Alternatively, place
two drops in a cup of Epsom salts, pour into a bath, lie back, relax and
allow the oil to soothe and uplift body and mind. Enjoy.
