NOTE: Mihirchandra points out that five recommended vegetables are the
Chakshusya or the ones that do not hurt the eyesight. Yoga dietetics has as a principle
low proteins and easily digestible nutrients as food, in harmony with sedentary way
of yoga life where the wear, tear and stress are less. It is generally termed Sattvika or
pure and healthy. That vegetarianism and yoga diet differ in selection of nutrients
is evident since the emphasis in case of the latter is not only on minimum physical
needs alone, but also sedate mental life. “Water” precludes stimulating drinks.
