A God without wrath brought a people without sin into a kingdom
without judgment through the ministrations of Christ without a
cross.
—H. Richard Niebuhr, The Kingdom of God in America
Five Things to Do to Make the World a Better Place
- Take a moment—respond rather than react.
- Treat yourself and everyone you meet as the Image of God that you are
and that they are. - Learn to accept forgiveness and to offer forgiveness.
- In a world drowning in data, learn what is saving knowledge and pay
attention there. - Practice hospitality as Henri Nouwen defi ned it: Make a space in your life
for others who are not like you without requiring that they become like
you.

Bio: Jarrod McKenna is a recovering consumer, hack- philosopher, activist
trainer, ex- artist, doubting [yet wonder- fi lled] evangelist, larrikin seditionist,
and one day wannabe permaculturalist who is seeking to live God’s love. As
“National Adviser for Youth, Faith and Activism” for Australia’s largest Aid/
Development Organization, World Vision Australia, Jarrod works to mobilize
a generation to take hold of our vocation to witness to “God’s nonviolent trans-
formation of all things” by equipping communities to conspiring to end human
traffi cking, climate change, maternal deaths, and extreme poverty.
He is a cofounder of the Peace Tree Community serving with the margin-
alized in one of the dodgiest areas in his city, initiated Together for Humanity
in Western Australia (a multifaith youth project serving together for the com-
mon good), and is the founder and creative director of EPYC! (Empowering
Peacemakers in Your Community) for which he received an Australian Peace
Award for his work in empowering a generation of “eco- evangelists and peace
prophets.” Which almost makes him sound respectable... almost.
