Five Things to Do to Make the World a Better Place
- Meditate daily on the life, teachings, crucifi xion, and resurrection of our
Lord. This is something Martin Luther King Jr. had everyone in the civil
rights movement commit to, and it’s having a powerful effect in my life. - Every time you pray, let the Lord’s Prayer be a part of it. Let the wonder
of “on earth as it is in heaven” infuse this good news into your psyche
until it appears in your dreams. And then let God’s dream for creation
appear in your waking life. - Seek to memorize the Sermon on the Mount. I’m not there yet but
this discipline of memorizing scriptures I fi nd very helpful and it’s an
amazing grace when the Holy Spirit brings them to memory while you
are working (start with the Beatitudes). - Find two or three people who are willing to hold you accountable to
acting on a new imagination of grace. Choose small experiments (e.g.,
become aware of God’s presence in those who are excluded at school or
