Five Things to Do to Make the World a Better Place

1. To Americans: Become aware of our privilege and our abuse of that
   privilege in the world; sacrifi ce comfort.


2. To my peoples of color: The race struggle is not over just because you
   got a house in the suburbs; and to whites: Your guilt is not getting us
   anywhere; repent and reconcile.


3. To consumers: Refuse to accept society’s proclamation that we are what
   we have; embrace simplicity.


4. To church people: Be intentional about your relationship with God and
   the radical things that that relationship calls for; practice the disciplines.


5. To so-called straight people: If Jesus were here today, he would chill
   with “the gays,” so I encourage you to chill with Jesus for once; stand in
   solidarity.
