those obstacles.

I found that one of the main reasons I hate to get out of
bed is because it’s so warm in bed! And I hate being cold.
So I pave the way with warmth with a sheepskin rug next
to my bed, fleece- lined slippers ready to slip my feet into,
and a fluffy throw in my favorite spot in the family room.
Knowing I can stay warm and cozy after I wake up is a huge
motivator for me.
Honestly? There have been plenty of mornings when I’ve
gotten up early to have my morning time, and I opened my
phone and got lost in a social media spiral. When I was going
to spend twenty- five minutes in worship and prayer, I spent it
on Facebook and Instagram in coveting and discouragement.
Not awesome.
One thing I do to combat the black hole obstacle of my
phone is to set a timer as soon as I wake up. I leave my phone
on the timer to remind me whenever I’m tempted to pick it up
that I’m supposed to be spending time with Jesus and that the
other things I was going to do “real quick” can wait.
I also use technology to overcome technology. A variety of
Wi- Fi- connected devices can help parents manage their kids’
Internet use. We have one of these devices, but I also use it to
help me manage my own Internet use. I set a bedtime and a
wake time for my Internet usage.
