What are the unique aspects of your current situation?
Time
Have you ever wondered where all your time goes? You’re
about to find out. This activity can be quite the eye- opener.
Just as those who want to spend their money more wisely
keep a budget, and those who want to eat more healthfully
keep a food journal, if we want to use our time well, there is
no better place to start than a time- tracking page.
It’s easy to think we don’t have time to study our Bible,
plan, or take care of our health, much less all three. It’s easy to
feel as though we barely have time to get dressed in the morn-
ing, much less add a new routine. But the simple act of tracking
your time may reveal fifteen minutes of snooze- button time
you could use, or time spent in the kitchen cooking when you
could also be prepping lunches for the next day.
A good spring- cleaning of your schedule has the potential
to reveal lovely treasures of time that can make your morning
routine a simple possibility rather than a big stretch.
Take a day and track how you spend your time in fifteen-
to thirty- minute increments. You can be more or less specific
depending on how your day flows. For example, if you com-
mute for ninety minutes, just write that down. Or if you
exercise for fifteen minutes and shower for fifteen minutes,
write down each of those.
