Spring Equinox Retreat

A time for renewal and rejuvenation

Gaia Spa has confirmed dates for its three-night Spring Equinox Retreat in Devon. The
retreat, which will take place in the luxurious setting of Boringdon Hall, takes place on
March 26-29 and will be led by wellbeing coach Estelle Thistleton, along with Gaia’s
team of therapists. It’s also a first from spa director, Shelley Hepburn who joined
Gaia Spa last August, fresh from opening The Ned in London and previously headed
up some of the UK’s leading spa resorts including The Grove, Pennyhill Park. The
retreat will take place around the time of the Spring Equinox, representing new light,
life and new beginnings, says Hepburn. “Up until the 18th century, the Spring Equinox
was considered the New Year in many parts of Europe. In ancient times, rituals were
performed and people would cleanse old energy out of their homes and temples.”
This is where the tradition of ‘spring cleaning’ originated. “Here on Dartmoor, we have
a huge history of ancient civilisations practicing ritual and connection to Mother
Nature – this is our inspiration for the retreat,” she adds.
