give that too. And you have more...
When it comes to love, the more we give,
the more we have.
Loving one or more people close to you
is much harder than the loving thought
towards all humanity. Beings close to you
provide you with a mirror and constant
feedback about how much love you offer. It
is therefore the perfect place to begin the
practice of active love.
Nourish the love you have for your
beloved every day. Do not take it for granted
and make sure you express it in words
and actions. Make sure you consciously
choose love every day and make it count
in your agenda. Love is often sacrificed to
advantage things that have far less value
and makes us far less happy.
In tantric practice, the couple relationship
is considered an important part of spiritual
practice – this is the place we can really
learn to walk the path of love.

Love as an initiating force
Love is not only a practice; it is an initiating
and transforming force that awakens us
to a deeper experience of ourselves and
life. This is also why we cherish epic love
stories. They are stories of growth and
transformation and finding new ways. They
all hold an element of eternity – a love
that will never be forgotten and that allows
us to exist beyond time. It connects us to
that part of ourselves that goes beyond
physical existence.
Just think of story like in the movie,
Titanic: we don’t feel touched by it because
the two lovers live happily ever after. We feel
touched because it is about love, after which
nothing is the same. It gives her the freedom
to be herself. With the eyes of love, he sees
her for what she is and even after he is gone
she stays true to her heart and a new way
of living. By having the courage to love,
she is led to live in a new world full of
possibilities and life and the initiating force
is so strong that even without him, she goes
on living there.
Love is an initiating force that brings
radical transformation to our lives when we
let ourselves feel and express it, rather than
just thinking it.
To live a life inspired by love means to be
truly alive. It means an authentic expression
of yourself in every moment. Love is a
conscious practice and an art that can be
learned, in which we discover our soul.

“... ACTIVE LOVE IS A
HARSH AND FEARFUL
THING COMPARED WITH
THE LOVE IN DREAMS.
LOVE IN DREAMS THIRSTS
FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION,
QUICKLY PERFORMED, AND
WITH EVERYONE WATCHING.
INDEED, IT WILL GO AS FAR
AS THE GIVING EVEN OF
ONE’S LIFE, PROVIDED IT
DOES NOT TAKE LONG BUT IS
SOON OVER, AS ON STAGE,
AND EVERYONE IS LOOKING
ON AND PRAISING. WHEREAS
ACTIVE LOVE IS LABOUR
AND PERSISTENCE, AND FOR
SOME PEOPLE, PERHAPS, A
WHOLE SCIENCE.”

speak louder than words and it is by looking
at our actions that we can get direct
feedback about the strength of our heart
and how much we live to know our soul.
We cannot force love to appear in our
hearts, but we can make it grow. Love
operates in accordance with different laws
to those of the mind. We are used to
thinking that if we give something away, then
we will have less. And so we hesitate – also
when it comes to giving the love that is in
our hearts.
When we practice active love, we love
without any hesitation. Whenever you
feel love, however little, offer it with no
hesitation! Then, the magic happens; you will
feel you have more love to offer – and you
