so they could train younger women “so that no one will malign the
word of God” (v. 5, NIV). This is compelling. It is a gospel imperative.
It is the way Christian women show and tell the next generation of
women “the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the
wonders he has done... so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their chil-
dren. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget
his deeds but would keep his commands” (Ps. 78:4, 6-7, NIV).
And thus Christendom is advanced.
