THE FOG

Iknow a heavy fog when I see one.
Where I grew up in Bakersfield, California, the schools never
closed because of ice or snow, but every year they shut down because
of fog. The murky air was so thick in the San Joaquin Valley that for
as long as ten days you could not see the center line on the road or the
house across the street.
I believe a moral fog as heavy as that has descended on our nation
and, even worse, on the church of Jesus Christ. Everywhere
Christians are confused and disoriented, and godly leaders are needed
to lead us to safety.
What is responsible for the massive moral whiteout in our day?
Can we reasonably predict what will happen next? I have three
observations.
First, the foundations are being destroyed.The most important part of
any structure is the foundation. Once a construction company was
building a high-rise condominium, and on the day the foundation was
poured, the ratios for the concrete were incorrect and there was more
sand than cement in the mix. But since the concrete looked normal,
no one noticed. Later the mistake was discovered, and it took almost
two years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix that weakened
foundation. A faulty foundation can cause a building, a family, a
