138 The Psalms

Jerusalem has been built as a city which is solidly tied together.
This is where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD
to give praise to the name of the LORD,
as the law requires for Israel.
Because seats for right decisions are set up there;
seats for the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem;
may those who love you be calm.
May there be peace within your walls,
calmness in your palaces.
For the sake of my brothers and friends I say,
‘Please let there be peace for her.’
For the sake of the temple of the LORD our God,
I will seek her good.

Psalm 130

From depths of despair I call out to you, LORD.
Lord, hear my voice;
let your ears be attuned to my cries for mercy.

If you, LORD, kept an account of sins,
Lord, who would remain standing?
But with you there is forgiveness;
that is why you are honoured.

I wait eagerly for the LORD,
I wait with longing and I expect his word to come.
I wait for my Lord with more longing,
than those who watch for the morning;
than those who watch for the morning.

Look expectantly to the LORD, Israel,
because covenant love is found with the LORD
and there is generous rescue with him.
He will rescue Israel from all her sins.
