Preparation
I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ your dear
Son that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger. I
ask you to preserve me this day also from sin and every evil, that my
thoughts, words and deeds may serve and please you. Into your hands
I commend myself, my body and soul, and all I possess. Amen.^162
Heavenly Father, dear God, I am unworthy and sinful and I do not
deserve to raise my eyes or hands to you in prayer. But as you have
commanded us to pray and have promised to hear us and through
your dear Son, Jesus Christ, have taught us both how and what to
pray, I come in obedience to your invitation, trusting in your gracious
promise. I pray in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ together with all
your people on earth as he has taught me:^163 Our Father......
