Preparation
Lord, early this morning I cry to you, for my trust is in your word.
Hear me for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.^216
Lord, I give you thanks for preserving me from the time of my birth
to this present moment and for bringing me safe to the beginning of
this day. I thank you particularly for......^217
Deliver me, Lord, from all my sins and from the rebuke of those who
mock you. We all live in shadow and are anxious in vain. But, Lord,
what is my hope? My hope is only in you. There may it continue –
acceptable in Jesus Christ, our Lord and only Saviour. Amen.^218

The Word of God
Eternal God and merciful Father, I pray that you will help me, so that
I may love all the things which you command and wish for the things
you promise so that, among the many changes of the world, my heart
may be firmly fixed where true joys are to be found, through Jesus
