Preparation
Eternal God, my Sovereign Lord, all I am and all I have is yours.
Give me this day a sense of your infinite goodness, so I may return to
you all possible love and obedience. I thank you for the good things
you have given me; for creating me in your image, for continually
providing for me in love, for redeeming me by the death of your Son.
I thank you for the help of your Holy Spirit and the ministry of your
church, also for all your natural blessings. May I always delight to
praise your holy name and, above everything, love you the giver of
all good gifts. Amen.^268
Lord Jesus, you are the way, the truth, and the life and you said that
none can follow you unless they deny themselves. Saviour, you saw our
disease, our idolatrous self-love, by which we fell away from God, to be
as gods ourselves and to please ourselves. So here I turn to you. May I
always renounce my own and do your holy will in all things. Amen.^269
