(6.8) What says the other prophet, Moses, to the Jewish people?
'Behold, the Lord God says these things: "Enter into the good
land that the Lord swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that you
would inherit it, a land flowing with milk and honey"' [Exod.
33.1, 3; Lev. 20.24; Deut. 1.25].
(9) Learn what gnosis says: 'Hope', it says, 'on Jesus who is going
to be manifested to you in the flesh'. For a human being is suf-
fering earth, for the creation of Adam occurred from the face of
the earth [Gen. 2.7]...
(11) Since then he renewed us by the forgiveness of sins, he made us
another type [of creation], as having the soul of children, as if he
were remaking us...
(6.13) Again I will show you how he speaks to us [Christians]. He made
a second creation in the last days. For the Lord says, 'Behold I
make the last things as the first' [?]. The prophet, therefore,
proclaimed with reference to this: 'Enter into the land flowing
with milk and honey and rule over it' [Exod. 33.3; Gen. 1.28].
(14) Behold, therefore, we have been remade, as again he says in
another prophet: 'Behold, says the Lord, I will remove from
them', that is from whose whom the Spirit of the Lord foresaw,
'their stony hearts, and I will place in them hearts of flesh' [Ezek.
11.19; 36.26], because he was going to be manifested in flesh
and dwell in us.
(15) My brothers and sisters, the Lord's holy temple is the dwelling
place of our heart.
(16) For the Lord says again: 'In what way shall I see the Lord my
God and be glorified?' [Ps. 41.3, LXX; Isa. 49.5] He says: 'I will
confess you in the assembly [church] of my brothers and sisters,
and I will sing praise to you in the midst of the assembly [church]
of the saints' [Ps. 21.23; 107.4, LXX]. Therefore, we are those
whom he led into the good land.
(17) What then are the milk and honey? [This means] that the child is
given life by honey and then milk. So then also we who are given
life by faith in the promise and by the word shall live and rule
over the earth...
(6.19) If then this has not happened now, therefore he has spoken to us
at what time, when we ourselves are perfected to become heirs of
the Lord's covenant...
