NEW BOOKS

Inspired by Dior

by Debbie Bliss

Designer Debbie Bliss has long been influenced
by the style of Christian Dior’s revolutionary
New Look fashion collection, launched in 1947.
Now, inspired by this year’s exhibition of Dior’s
work at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum,
Debbie has created knitting patterns evoking
the shapes and femininity of his clothes.
The ‘Manon’ jumper captures the essence
of the New Look style, with its wide boat neck
and flared peplum. It features a stitch pattern
of rope cables and textured diamonds.

‘Delphine’ is a tailored jacket with a peplum,
waist shaping and a neat shawl collar. Its
smart fabric is created by knitting together
strands of Debbie Bliss’s Fine Donegal tweed
yarn with her Angel silk-mohair laceweight.
‘Clemence’ is a gently flared sweater with
an intricately textured cable fabric, while
‘Romane’ is a chic collared cardigan.
Individual pattern PDFs cost £3.50 from
