On my needles
Helen Spedding,
operations editor

When I saw Anniken Allis’s ‘Trebarwith
Valley’ shawl, designed for Issue 138,
I fell in love with its squishy softness,
its elegant lace pattern, and its sheer
size. I was also intrigued by the fact
that it uses just one ball of Scheepjes
Whirligig - although it’s a huge 450g
ball, to be fair! I picked the ‘Teal to
Yellow’ colourway, and am working
from the centre of the ball so that the
yellow is at the tip of the shawl, and
the dark teal will be at the top. I’ve
enjoyed seeing how the colour subtly
changes as I work my way up the
shawl, and I love the way the alpaca-
wool fabric feels. The plan was to give
this to my mother, but I suspect I may
end up keeping it for myself!
