Pham is certain he has a leg up on teammates when it comes to fashion sense
and doesn’t just follow the crowd. “I’m very picky about fabric. I’m also not
worried about being season-appropriate when it comes to color palette.”

that suit look very expensive by the way I had
it fitted. Curtis Granderson, who was already
in the big leagues, had given me some tips
on accessorizing as well as fitting, and his
knowledge of the suit game proved very helpful.
I handed that suit down to my stepdad,
as I did with a couple of other earlier ones
I bought. Today, I own about 25 suits – and
all of them ran me a bit more than $300.
I really like blue suits, so I have several of
them. I also have four dinner jackets someone
made for me, and two tuxedos. The way I see
it, you can never be overdressed.
I prefer to try on what I’m buying, and
I like to see and feel the fabric, so I don’t
shop online. I’m very picky about fabric. I
favor wool for suits because it doesn’t wrinkle.
Cotton will wrinkle, and I’m not a fan of that.
When I’m dressing to hang out, I’m
usually sporting Adidas, since I have a
contract with them. Not only are their
shoes comfortable, but they also make some
comfortable, sharp-looking apparel.
I’m not worried about being season-
appropriate when it comes to color palette.
I know that olive green and burgundy are
considered fall colors, but I like the way they
look on me, so I wear them whenever I feel
like it. I’m not into trends because when they
end, you look stupid, so I try to buy clothes
that won’t go out of style in a few months.
I’m also not big on the “baggy” look.
When I was a kid, perhaps. But I feel like you
should wear clothing that fits you best. For
me, that means fitted and well-tailored. My
biggest fashion “no,” though, is wearing fitted
pants with a baggy shirt or a tailored shirt
with baggy pants. Make them both the same.
In that same category, if you’re wearing
a loud shirt, I’d advise to keep the pants
simple. But if you shirt is on the plain side,
dress it up with your shoes or pants.
Whatever you do, take pride in being
presentable. It’s something I’ve always done

  • at least since those first pairs of Air Jordans
    and Grant Hills.
    Thanks, grandma.
