This pose stretches the muscles along the side of the torso through lat-
eral spinal  exion.
Risks and Contraindications
Students with lower-back issues should be careful not to  ex too far.
Modify the pose if you experience discomfort in the shoulders.
Alignment Points


  • Begin by lying on your back.

  • Slide both the head and the feet toward the left side as you slide
    the hips to the right, creating a crescent shape through the body.

  • Place the right leg over the top the left leg and then gently grab the
    right wrist with the left hand.

  • Repeat on the other side.
