Some of this month’s themes in Jyotish support expansive social activism, seeing our inner light,

and cultivating clarity of communication.

November 5
Mars enters Aquarius today after being in
Capricorn since early May. This long and
unprecedented transit of Mars, in fearful
Capricorn, will end now. This should feel
like a bit of a relief. There is been a "hunker-
ing down" mentality for much of 2018, at
least since the spring. Along with this, there
has been quite a bit of defensiveness and self-
protection dictating our actions. With today’s
shift, we can expect a more expansive use of
our vitality, courage, and aggressiveness. This
is especially a good time for social activism, as
it relates to politics. These are actions related
to Aquarius.

November 6
The Moon is new in Libra today, which
begins a 30-day cycle of compromise and
relating with others. It may be easy to lose
ourselves in our partner's needs and desires,
and then become frustrated and snap back
against them. Be careful of this dynamic now.
In addition, this is happening with Venus
retrograde in Libra, which is already bringing
some confusion around our agreements. This
New Moon day is called Diwali, the Indian
Festival of Light. It is a time when we need
to look within, toward our inner light, rather
than look externally for it.
This New Moon is in Vishaka Nakshtra,
ruled by Indra and Agni, who are the gods
of lightning and fire. This particular 30-day
cycle takes on a higher, elevated quality. It
shows where your individual relationships are
being universalized, moving toward some-
thing less personal and more transpersonal.
Yet along with this, we may experience some
frustration with individuals, and a lack of
patience or compassion for their struggle.

November 10-16
The Moon is joined with several difficult
planets this week. From November 10-12, the
Moon joins Saturn in Sagittarius, bringing an
awareness of restlessness about our future,
our plans, and our hopes. This can lead to
deeper solitude based on our teachings. Then
on November 13-14, the Moon joins Ketu in
Capricorn which shows a relentless focus on

the problems of the world, including money,
health, family, and death itself. This also can
lead to the realization that our ego and iden-
tity in this world of time is not our true self.
So, it's better to not stress too much over it.
On November 15-16, the Moon joins Mars
in Aquarius, increasing our frustration with
our place in society and with our tribe. But
this may also gift us with greater discipline
and courage in that tribe. Now is a good time
to get real about how much we are "walk-
ing the talk,” rather than just projecting our
frustrations on to others.

November 16
Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio today;
it will be retrograde until December 7. Dur-
ing this time, Mercury will join Jupiter in
Scorpio, as well as the Sun in Scorpio. Now
is a good time for focusing and deepening
your inner dialogue, especially as it is relates
to your level of emotional intelligence. We all
want to understand things—and be able to
put them into words—even if just in our own
heads, so we can understand the story of our
life. However, this inner focus may come at
the expense of some of life’s outer circum-
stances and details. This is why it is beneficial
to get your communication systems intact
before this retrograde cycle begins. Comput-
ers, phones, transportation, et cetera, may be
sources of frustration now.

November 22
The Full Moon today is in Taurus, which
provides a harmonic balance with the current
Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter in Scorpio. This
is a time of increased passion and intensity,
since there are so many planets in Scorpio.
This Full Moon in Taurus returns us to a
state of balance and rest. Today (and tomor-
row) are good days to connect to the heart,

especially through people and experiences
that reaffirm your values and your sense of
connection to the world. No, we are not ulti-
mately of this world, but we have incarnated
here, and our first order of business is with
the world and the people around us.
The Moon is aspected by Jupiter and Mars
today which allows us to learn a lot of lessons
from those friends and family members we
trust. The aspect from Mars may also bring a
certain amount of restlessness and dynamism,
or even frustration.
This Full Moon happens in Kritikka
Nakshtra, which is highly auspicious. The
Moon is exalted here, and shows where Agni,
the god of fire, helps us to illuminate our
mind and consciousness.

November 27-28
The Moon is in Cancer joined Rahu, which
shows some very deep emotions getting acti-
vated. This can be great for meditation and
connecting to your heart. But it can also be
very emotional, and those who have hurt you
or who evoke strong emotions may pay the
price. Be careful of expressing passive aggres-
sion and other negative emotional responses.
This is especially true because the Moon is
joined Rahu, which leads to some confusion
and obsession over our feelings.

November 29-30
Now the Moon is in Leo and aspected by
Mars in Aquarius—which ends the month
with a lot of fiery passion and awareness. The
energy of Mars in Aquarius has the effect of
strengthening your relationship to the tribe.
This opposition/aspect to the Moon and Leo
brings that lesson into your mind and con-
sciousness with a lot of focus and clarity. We
may see many social movements and uprising
become deeply energized.
