MindUP combines mindfulness, SEL,
and positive psychology, and draws
from neuroscience (Lawlor, 2014; Weare,
2013). The program teaches social and
emotional learning skills that link cognitive
neuroscience, positive psychology, and
mindful awareness training utilizing a brain-
based approach. There are three curricula
available (grades K to 2, 3 to 5, and 6 to 8).
Two training programs exist: (a) District Wide/
Government/Public and Private Institution
Implementation, where MindUP staff works
with your district’s educational leaders to
implement the MindUP curriculum in your
school district. Training includes onsite
workshops, virtual support, and ongoing
coaching and mentoring. (b) MindUP School
Based On-Site Training: MindUP staff
works with on-site principals and staff and
includes a 12-month support plan with a
program coordinator. Ongoing interactive
forums are created both in person and
online. A parent workshop is also offered.
There is some research support (see Lawlor,
2014; Schonert-Reichl & Lawlor, 2010;
Weare, 2013).
