Warrior I is considered a strengthening pose (Flynn, 2013; Harper, 2013). It improves balance,
and promotes focus (Flynn, 2013; Herrington, 2012). To modify for students in Warrior,
I, give them a chair to help them stabilize.

Pose Upward Facing Dog
Instruct From lying on the floor face down,
place your hands underneath your
shoulders and press down into your
mat through the thumb and first
fingers. Lift your chest up, pull your
belly in and draw your shoulder blades
back and down. Pressing the tops of
your feet into the mat, lift your hips
and reach through the crown of your
head. Look forward and slightly up.
Anchor
Point
Tops of feet, hands, and belly. Focal
point is forward and slightly up.
Breath
Work
Breath is steady, intentional, and
deep.
