“I lean savory
over sweet, so I
used just 1 cup of
sugar and liked
it a lot. This is
a great recipe to
play with.”

    1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

    2. Arrange bread cubes in a buttered
2-qt. ceramic baking dish. Heat milk
and butter in a saucepan, stirring
      occasionally, over medium-high heat,
until butter melts and mixture just
comes to a boil. Pour over bread; let
stand 15 minutes. Whisk together eggs,
      white sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and
salt in a bowl. Stir in blueberries. Pour
over bread, then stir gently to combine
      evenly. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.

    3. Bake until golden brown on top and a
knife inserted in center comes out clean,
45 to 50 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream or syrup.

blueberry bread pudding

This comforting bread
pudding is what French
toast wants to be
when it graduates from
breakfast and moves
on to dessert. It’s easy to
pull off, too, with day-old
bread and things you likely
already have on hand.
