stick. I’ll always cherish the many
nights we spent texting each oth-
er back and forth while watching
her precious Yankees usually beat
up on my Minnesota Twins. The
playful rivalry and banter we car-
ried on was priceless.
Over the past nine years, we
worked side by side on what
became our pet project, and
ultimately what will be Penny’s
last film. Without her, I’m not
sure I would be who I am to-
day—not just as a moviemaker,
but as a person. She took me
under her wing and taught
me more than she would ever
know. There’s no doubt about
it: Penny Marshall was in a
league of her own. MM
