MARK AND BEN CULLEN Mark
is an expert gardener, author,
broadcaster and tree advocate and
holds the Order of Canada. His
son, Ben, is a fourth-generation
urban gardener and a graduate of
the University of Guelph and
Dalhousie University in Halifax.

CLAIRE DAM specializes in food
and lifestyle photography. Her work
has been featured in a variety of
publications, most recently in
the cookbook Debauch for the
Other Bird group of restaurants.
Claire and her husband live on
a 17-acre, multi-generational,
permaculture farm in southern
Ontario, where they raise a variety
of animals and also work to nurture
the connection between their land,
their food and their community.
KEN DAM lives with his wife, Claire,
and their daughter in rural Hamilton
on a small-scale permaculture farm still
in its infancy. Together they explore
developing skills that nourish their
relationship to the land, to food, to their
community and to one another.

ROBERT DICK is one of Canada’s
foremost writers and educators on
astronomical topics. Harrowsmith
has benefitted from Robert’s
expertise since its inception. Robert
is passionate about reducing light
pollution and promoting science
literacy. He has been an astronomy
instructor for our astronauts, and
ensures that our sunrise and sunset
charts, stargazing and celestial events
information will leave you starstruck.

VANESSA FARNSWORTH is
a science journalist, former
horticulturist and long-time resident
of the B.C. Interior. In her 25 years as a
magazine writer, she has taken a keen
interest in native plants, novel insects,
threats to nature from within and
without, environmental gardening
practices and the people who pursue
any and all of those things. Her
memoir, Rain on a Distant Roof: A
Personal Journey Through Lyme
Disease in Canada, was widely praised
when it was published in 2013.
ALICIA FARROW studied
photography at George Brown College
and has been passionate about the
medium since she was a young child.
Her photographs aim to capture the
everyday life of a busy, young family
through a lens of appreciation and
wonder. Having grown up in northern
Ontario, Alicia is particularly drawn
to natural settings and the beauty of
their wild side.

JOE GENOVESE is the owner and
operator of Genoscape Inc. landscaping
and design services. Joe has specialized
in the design and installation of water
features and ecosystem ponds for
over 15 years. He currently resides in
Markham, Ontario, with his wife and
two children.
NIKI JABBOUR is the award-winning
author of Niki Jabbour’s Veggie Garden
Remix, T he Ye a r -Round Ve getable
Gardener and Groundbreaking Food
Gardens. Her work is found in Fine
Gardening, Garden Making, Birds
& Blooms, Horticulture and other
publications, and she speaks widely
on food gardening at events and shows
across North America. She is the host
and creator of The Weekend Gardener
radio show. She lives in Halifax and is
online at nikijabbour.com.
