Scale Aviation Modeller International – March 2019

(WallPaper) #1
Color semi-gloss and Tamiya
matt was uniied with a coat
of Microscale gloss before
applying the decals. Experience
with the instrument panel
decals suggested that those
supplied by Revell in the new
issue would be robust, albeit
rather thick, while those taken
from the earlier kit proved
to be easy to use and settled
down well with Microscale Sol.
With the airframe complete,
the remaining bits can be
added. Revell’s instructions
for the undercarriage are
rather confusing and vague on
placement, but the application
of common sense prevails
and with some careful gluing,
the whole lot goes together,
albeit resulting in a rather
limsy structure. Aerials and
DF loop complete the build.

CONCLUSION
Not a bad build of an
interesting subject - especially
when placed alongside the
ancient Matchbox ofering
and its better decals. The
undercarriage is the weakest
part (literally!) and needs
patience and a steady hand.
It’s a shame that Revell persist
in providing single, rather
narrow marking options,

especially given that the ICM
plastic potentially ofers the
option of the civil version. Get
it and look out for alternative
markings on the internet!
