Every year in Nuremberg

Eduard hold a press conference

where they announce the next

years release and sometimes

look even further ahead. This

year’s press conference started

with an amazing igure. Since

the launch of their 1/48 scale

Fw-190 range they have sold

over 140,000 examples and

the most popular version the

Fw190A-8 is not released yet

and they expect to double that

igure by this time next year!

The most important 1/48

scale release for the company

will be the North American P-51

Mustang, the irst release should

be available in the summer, but

the tooling has been made so

they can produce any Merlin

engine variants and so fat these

has led to d the production of ive

diferent fuselages. Including one

for the F-6 Photoreconnaissance

version. Eduard has decided

to follow the wartime practice

of showing the wings with no

rivets on the upper surface and

two-thirds of the lower wing

while the rest of the aircraft

will have the same standard of

riveting as the recent Tempest.

Speaking of the Tempest, the

question was asked if we would

see a Sabre poured Mk.2, Eduard

have conirmed that this will be

released in the future but as part

of a cooperation agreement it

will be irst released by Special

Hobby in late 2019/Early 2020.

Moving down to 1/72 scale all

attending the event were given an

early production shot of the new

1/72 Fokker D.VII. This new kit

has pushed what can be achieved

with biplanes to an all new

level and we have a Quick Look

elsewhere in this issue. Finally,

we were given an insight to some

of the new technologies Eduard

are developing, the irst to beneit

will be the Look range of resin

pre-inished instrument panels.

Eduard are looking expanding

this idea to produce pre-inished

resin sidewalls though many

may say what is the point? But

many ham isted modelers

like me may like the idea of a

perfectly inished side panel.

Another innovation is to

combine etched brass with

injection-moulded plastic. The

irst subject that may see the

launch of this innovation will

be the spoked wire wheels of a

1/72 biplane that will include

the tires moulded in plastic

as one combined piece.

Eduard have also announced

a further selection of late model

109s that even they admit

is catering for the real 109

enthusiast, as the diferences

between the versions is so tiny.

They have said the inal 109

variant to be produced will be

Czech Produced Avia’s due in early

2020 and sadly they have no plans

to produce the Spanish built Rolls

Royce engined version the Buchon

unless a lot of modelers ask for it?

Dora Wings

Though they did not attend

the show this year some

items from their range were

on display on the Masterbox

stand who supplied us with

details of Dora Wings 2019

schedule. We were also told

that Dora are also working

on a number of new projects

though we do not have any

details of scale these include a

Lockheed Vega and Orion, Miles

Master and most importantly

an all new Westland Lysander a

subject that is bound to be very

popular with British modelers.
