The big or rather small news from
Tamiya was a new Messerschmitt
Bf-109G-6 in 1/72 scale. This is
quite logical giving the research
done for its 1/48 scale larger
brother, which was released in

2018. The details for 1/72 scale is
      irst class and most modeller will
      be more than happy with what is
      supplied, though the removable
      cowlings a detailed engine from
      the larger kit are missing in
      this smaller scale example.
      To be honest most
      modellers at the show were a bit
      underwhelmed by this release as

the market is pretty

well served for 109G’s

in all major scales.

And to be honest I

was expecting the

next small scale

release to be the

Supermarine Spitire

Mk.1 but even then the market

is pretty full of Spitires as well.

Hopefully at the Tokyo show in

June Tamiya will announce a

type that really needs an up to

date representation in plastic.
