If you’vebeenhankeringaftera MicrosoftSurfaceBook,now’sthetimeto
go grab one. Microsoft quietly updated the 13.5-inch model in April with a
new eighth-generation quad-core Intel Core i5 (priced at £1,499). It also cut
the cost of the existing dual-core model, knocking £260 off the original
£1,499 asking price. Bargain.
No matter which model you buy, all the usual superlatives apply – you
get a gorgeous 3,000x2,000 resolution PixelSense display; a choice of 8GB
or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of super-fast solid-state storage, depending
on configuration. Plus 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and a decent smattering
of ports for a laptop of its slender size: 2x USB Type A and 1x USB-C.
The only slight drawback is that the upgraded Surface Book 2 still doesn’t
come with a Surface Pen, the touch-sensitive stylus that Microsoft sells for
an extra £99.99. But when you’re using Windows 10 on a 2-in-1 laptop as
good as this, what price perfection?
