Step-by-step The Action Centre explained

1 Opening the Action Centre
To open the Action Centre, click on its icon on the right-
hand side of the Taskbar. The icon is in the shape of a speech
bubble, but don’t assume that the Action Centre is just about
notifications. If you do have unread notifications, the icon will
show how many unread ones there are. Click the icon and the
Action Centre will appear on the right-hand side of your screen.

2 See your notifications
Notifications in Windows 10 work a lot like they do on your
smartphone. When you get an email or instant message, a quick
notification will appear on the screen. If you miss a notification,
opening the Action Centre will list the most recent notifications
that you’ve received. It will also usefully group those notifications
by app, so you can see all your emails at once, for example.

3 Muting notifications
Notifications are useful for making sure you don’t miss out
on important messages, or if your PC needs to alert you to
something. There will be times when you don’t want notifications
popping up. It’s easy to mute these by turning on ‘Quiet hours’, an
option at the bottom of the Action Centre that stops Windows 10
from displaying notifications until you turn that option off.

4 Share your Wi-Fi with a hotspot
You can turn your Windows 10 device into a mobile hotspot
so you can connect other devices via Wi-Fi to your laptop or PC
and share its Internet connection. To create a mobile hotspot click
the ‘Mobile hotspot’ icon in the Action Centre. It will then tell you
the name of the Wi-Fi network it has created. On your mobile
device, you should see the network – click it to connect.
