7 Closing desktops
When you have finished with the extra desktops you’ve
created, you can either leave them to run in the background, or
close any you no longer need. To do that, click the Task View
button or press [Win] + [Tab], hover your mouse cursor over the
desktop previews that appear at the top of the screen and click
the ‘x’ in the upper right-hand corner of any you want to close.

8 Multiple desktop options
Once you’ve experimented with multiple desktops, you
might want to tweak a couple of options. Go to Start > Settings
and click System. Move to the ‘Multi-tasking’ section and scroll to
the bottom to find the ‘Virtual desktops’ option. Here you can
choose where the Windows Taskbar is displayed, as well as
changing how the [Alt] + [Tab] shortcut works. Q

Drag and drop content between desktops
If you’re more comfortable with dragging and dropping,
you will be pleased to hear that you can do this with multiple
desktops. Click the Task View button – or press [Win] + [Tab] –
and rather than right-clicking the preview of the content you
want to move, use the left mouse button to drag and drop a
window or application onto another desktop instead.

3 Navigating between desktops
When you use [Ctrl] + [Win] + [D], you’ll be taken to the
new desktop as soon as it’s created, but to jump back and forth
between any other desktops, you’ll need to use other options. The
first option is to click the Task View button or press [Win] + [Tab],
and select the desktop you would like to move to. Alternatively,
hold [Ctrl] + [Win] and tap the left or right cursor keys.

6
Copying windows between desktops
As well as moving apps and windows between desktops,
you can also duplicate them. Click the Task View button – or
press [Win] + [Tab] – and right-click the app or window you’re
interested in. You can then choose between the options ‘Show
this window on all desktops’ and ‘Show windows from this app
on all desktops’ to create the duplicates you need.

4 Move content between desktops
While using multiple desktops enables you to keep things
separate, there will be times when you need to move a window or
app from one desktop to another. To do this, click the Task View
button – or press [Win] + [Tab] – and right-click the preview of the
app or window you want to move. From the menu that appears,
select Move To followed by the desktop you want to move it to.
