British Airways has further revised planned long‑haul services for
the winter 2019/20 season. The latest summary also includes
adjustments for London Gatwick departures.


  • London Gatwick – New York JFK 14Jan20 – 10Feb20: 1 daily service
    temporary suspended

  • London Gatwick – Punta Cana eff 21Dec19: Increase from 3 to 4
    weekly

  • London Heathrow – Abu Dhabi 27Oct19 – 31Dec19: 777‑200ER
    replaces 787‑9, 1 daily

  • London Heathrow – Atlanta eff 27Oct19: 5 of 7 weekly operated
    by 777‑200ER, replacing 787‑9

  • London Heathrow – Nashville eff 29Oct19: Increase from 4 to 5
    weekly in W19, compared to W18. 787‑8 operating
    British Airways has removed planned Boeing 747 domestic services,
    scheduled for late August 2019. The oneWorld member had filed
    various one‑time 747 services to Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle
    on 25Aug19.
    British Airways’ has revealed changes for selected services to
    Russia and Eastern Europe, where the airline is discontinuing following
    routes from 04Oct19:

  • London Heathrow – Kiev Borispil: 1 daily

  • London Heathrow – St. Petersburg: 1 daily
    British Airways is adjusting operational frequencies for North African
    services from London Gatwick in the winter 2019/20 season. Planned
    frequency variations are as follows:

  • London Gatwick – Algiers 05Nov19 – 15Dec19: Reduce from 6 to 5
    weekly

  • London Gatwick – Marrakech eff 27Oct19: Increase from 8 weekly
    in W18 to 9 weekly (Except 05Jan20 – 14Feb20)
    British Airways has scheduled additional changes to long‑haul services
    for the winter 2019/20 season, effective from 27Oct19.

Bestfly [Angola] was due to take delivery of two ATR72‑600s on lease
from Acia Aero (France) to operate corporate and charter services from
July 2019. ATR will also provide maintenance and training services. One
of the serials is 1060.

Blue Panorama [Italy] may appeal against a US$1.1 million fine
imposed by Italian competition regulators. The carrier is accused of
levying unfair passenger fines.
The airline is adding four B737‑800s to develop new summer 2019
routes such as those to two other Greece, Egypt, Spain, Turkey and
flights to Africa and the Caribbean.


BRA (Braathens Regional Airlines) [DC/GAO] [Sweden] is ending its
contract to operate an Avro RJ on behalf of Wideroe (Norway), effective
14Dec19.
The airline is to phase out all its Avro RJs by March 2020 and
expand its ATR fleet with ‑72s. The carrier also dropped plans to
acquire A220s. BRA might also lease or wet‑lease, some regional jets.

British Airways [BA/BAW] [UK] is to face a fine of US$229.7 million
over a violation of the UK Data Protection Act. The carrier intends to
appeal.
The carrier is holding talks with its pilots to avert a potentially
damaging summer 2019 strike. Pilots have rejected a pay increase
worth 11.5% over three years.
British Airways has opened a new lounge at San Francisco.
The carrier is moving forward with the planned introduction of its
A350‑1000 into long‑haul service, with flights to Dubai now set to start
in September 2019.
