LIAT [Antigua]’s majority shareholder, the government of Barbados,
is handing it back its 49.4% stake to Antigua and Barbuda, as rumours
of a new airline in Barbados may be launched.

Lion Air [Indonesia] announced a loss of about US$20 million because
of the ban on the operation of the B737 MAX aircraft.
The carrier has received its first A330‑900, serial 1926 on lease
from BOC Aviation (Singapore), the first of 10 A330neos set to join the
airline’s fleet.

Longhao Airlines [China] is being rebranded as China Central
Longhao Airlines.

Loong Air [GJ/CDC] [China] opened its northwest branch in Xi’an and
has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China West
Airport Group and the Xi’an New District Airport New City Management
Committee.

LOT Polish Airlines [LO/LOT] [Poland] is increasing frequencies of
flights to China to seven times a week. From the end of October 2019
it will fly from Warsaw to Beijing‑Daxing International Airport with
B787s.
The carrier plans to launch flights between Budapest and Belgrade
starting 01Sep19 with E195 based in the Hungarian capital.

Lao Airlines [Laos] has announced that it will start flying from
Vientiane to Phnom Penh again in October 2019, with plans to also fly
to Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.


LATAM Airlines [LA/LAN] [Chile] has announced its 1Q19 figures: a
$60 million loss compared to $90 million profit in 2018, PRK down
12.7% but ASK up 6.7%, revenue $2.525 billion down 7.5%. It is to
cancel services from Rosario & San Miguel de Tucuman to Santiago &
Sao Paulo between July and October, cancelling GRU‑Rome and GRU‑
Barcelona flights to be operated by B763 in place of A350‑900 in
November, and launch Santiago‑Porto Alegre, Lima‑Calama, Cuzco‑La
Paz. The carrier is establishing a base at Brasilia for services to
Santiago, Lima & Asuncion by 4Q19.
LATAM’s joint venture with Oneworld & American has been rejected
by Chile’s Supreme Court.

LATAM Airlines Argentina [Argentina] is one step closer to flying
from Buenos Aires Ezeiza to Miami with Chilean‑registered aircraft and
Argentine crew. LATAM Argentina is cutting international flights by
20%, as the parent diverts part of its fleet to Brazil to fill the gap left
by bankrupt airlines.

LATAM Airlines Paraguay [Paraguay] and Paranair (Paraguay) have
signed a codeshare agreement, connecting flights from Asuncion and

LATAM Cargo [Chile] has become the first airline to offer direct
services between Scandinavia and Latin America, with a weekly B767‑
300F service to Copenhagen.
LATAM Cargo expects the redelivery of its two remaining B767‑300
conversions on order from Boeing in July and late 2019.


Latin American Wings [Chile] has lost a court appeal which sought to
reverse the suspension of its AOC.


Lauda [Austria] inaugurated its base in Palma de Mallorca with the
arrival of the first flight, an A320, from Dusseldorf.
Lauda is exploring a fifth base outside of the Baltics, Scandinavia
or Eastern Europe. It plans to grow its fleet at its Vienna base from
eight to 12 A320s by 2019 end and will launch seasonal services from
Vienna to Santander in April 2020.
Lauda will return its last A321, serial 1988, as its fleet of A320s is
extended from 20 to 23. The carrier is mulling the A321neo and other
similar variants.


Level [VK] [Austria] is gradually expanding services from Amsterdam,
as reflected in recent schedule updates. The planned services will be
operated by Anisec, with Airbus A321 aircraft.
