Lufthansa is expanding its codeshare network with Eurowings,
covering services to Cuba. The new codeshare routes include the
following.
Lufthansa operated by Eurowings:


  • Dusseldorf – Havana, Dusseldorf – Varadero
    Cathay Pacific and Lufthansa Group have also expanded their
    codeshare partnership, covering services between Hong Kong and
    Europe. From 17Jul19, the new codeshare routes include the following.

  • Hong Kong – Frankfurt
    Lufthansa has announced aircraft changes for its planned summer
    2020 season, which runs from 29Mar20. Planned changes as of 10Jul19
    are as follows:

  • Frankfurt – Delhi eff 29Mar20: 747‑8I replaces A380, 1 daily

  • Frankfurt – San Francisco eff 29Mar20: 747‑8I replaces A380, 1
    daily

  • Munich – Boston eff 29Mar20: A380 replaces A340‑600, 1 daily

  • Munich – Hong Kong eff 29Mar20: A340‑600 replaces A380, 1 daily

  • Munich – San Francisco eff 29Mar20: A380 replaces A340‑600, 1
    daily

  • Munich – Shanghai Pu Dong eff 29Mar20: A380 replaces A340‑600,
    1 daily


Luxair [LG/LGL] [Luxembourg] recorded 2018 operating profit of
€800,000 down from €1.2 million but net result profit of €12.3 million,
up €2.3 million.

Mahan Air [W5/IRM] [Iran] was banned from German airspace in
order for the European country to protect its interests.
The carrier received $96.7 million from the country’s Central Bank
in foreign currency.

Malaysia Airlines [MH/MAS] [Malaysia] has continued to draw
interest from a few investor groups that are keen to explore options
such as taking over the company. AirAsia (Malaysia) is not ruling out a
merger. The airline is weighing four offers, mostly from local
companies, who have offered to either buy a stake in the flag carrier
or manage it.

Maldivian [Maldives] has decided to bring in two more aircraft to
meet demand. It is also currently working on fleet expansion. It issued
a tender to acquire one DHC6‑300 floatplane or amphibian, with offers
due by 06Aug19.

LOT Polish Airlines operated by Aeroflot:



  • Moscow Sheremetyevo – Irkutsk, Moscow Sheremetyevo – Rostov‑
    on‑Don


LOT Polish Airlines has also expanded its codeshare partnership with
Air India, covering additional routes between Delhi and Europe. The
new codeshare routes went into effect from 15May19.

  • Delhi – Frankfurt, Delhi – London Heathrow, Delhi – Milan
    Malpensa, Delhi – Vienna


Separately, Air India expanded its LOT codeshare partnership on
selected routes to/from Warsaw from mid‑March 2019.
Star Alliance carriers LOT Polish Airlines and Turkish Airlines are
also expanding their codeshare partnership, covering additional
routes via Istanbul and Warsaw. The new codeshare routes from
22May19 include the following.

  • Istanbul – Adana, Istanbul – Antalya, Istanbul – Budapest,
    Istanbul – Dalaman, Istanbul – Dubai, Istanbul – Izmir

Lufthansa [LH/DLH] [Germany] says Lufthansa Technik will remain a
core part of its operation as its shifts focus to its airline business and
moves line maintenance away from the MRO unit.
Lufthansa has suspended its wet lease partnership with Air
Nostrum (Spain) and will perform the flights with its own A319.
The airline will expand its A380 fleet in Munich with two additional
aircraft as of Summer 2020. The carrier will operate to Boston and San
Francisco will be offered year round.
Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr is warning of a drastic drop in its
operations at Zurich airport if further restrictions at the hub were to
continue. He also says that chief executive says Ryanair (Ireland) is
“irresponsible” for charging less than €10 for tickets on certain
German routes, while adding that Lufthansa won’t be pushed out of its
home market.
