An-12UD 9901007? experimental long range version; now known to have been w/o May68 owing to crew error, but
no further details known at present, nor is it reported if it was being operated by the
manufacturer, or the Air Force.
An-12 0901503 “16” red Soviet Air Force; photo shows the c/n on the tail; this airframe has not previously been identified.
An-12 1400204 “01” red Soviet Air Force; was preserved at one time at Engels Air Force Base.
An-12A 2400401 “02” red Soviet Air Force; was offered for sale in 1998 but was preserved at Engels from 2000; this did not
become “15” yellow and later “15” red as previously surmised; the identity of “15” yellow is not
known.
An-12BP 3341201 UP-AN202 SCAT; noted wfu at Shymkent 13Jul19.
An-12BP 4341907 “10” Soviet Air Force; mfd 19Jun64; transferred to the Russian Air Force in 1992 and became “03” blue;
severely damaged 29Apr97 on a combined cargo and training flight to Lensk at night with the
MTOW exceeded by 2 tonnes when it came in above the glide slope, touched down at 240 km/h
with 2g 20 metres behind the runway threshold; touched down with 1.7g on the nose-wheel,
bounced again and touched down with 1.9g so that the nose gear collapsed and the aircraft
suffered substantial damage; all crew and passengers escaped unhurt; the aircraft was ferried
back to Novosibirsk and could have been repaired, but was struck off charge; t/t 7,608 hours, no
previous information was known about this airframe.
