This month the remaining aircraft that expired at the end of February
were cancelled, with some being restored later in the month. No fewer
than 278 aircraft were re-registered to a different N Number and 269
were restored.
A Cirrus SR22, cancelled after it expired on 31Mar19 flew to
Oshkosh on 24th July and was noted the following day by a fellow
editor! This was just one of quite a number noted there that had been
cancelled as expired.
A strange event this month: on the 24th Curtiss Wright P-40E
N989AK appeared as a reservation with c/n AK989. The real c/n was
18733 and this went missing 13Jly42 Lake Iliamna AK as RCAF 1069,
after the pilot bailed out, and was not recovered. By the following day
(the 25th) all trace of the entry had gone! (I haven’t included it below.)
The marks had been reserved on 07Jun19!
Some of the ex Spanish Dassault Mirages reserved last month have
now been registered, but not the ones that gave me grief!
