PARADIVE MUSEUM: Habonim
The airfield is home to a parachute club and training school. A collection
of interesting aircraft is being assembled. Three classic American types
have been acquired. The Fleet 1 biplane, originally known as the
Consolidated 14 Husky Junior, first appeared in late 1928. Consolidated’s
president Reuben Fleet purchased the design rights after the company
decided not to put the type into production. He set up Fleet Aircraft and
in the first year around 300 were sold. Consolidated then purchased the
Fleet company and set up a second factory in Canada.
The Porterfield 35-70, designed by Noel Hockaday, was built in
1935 by students at the Wyandotte High School as the Wyandotte Pup.
Porterfield Aircraft recognised the potential of the aircraft, bought the
design rights and employed Hockaday as works manager and designer.
The Pup was developed to appear in 1935 as the Porterfield Model 35
Flyabout a braced high-wing-monoplane. Originally powered by a 60
hp LeBlond 5D radial engine, later variants were fitted with different
engines. Over 240 aircraft were built.
The Taylorcraft B series high wing monoplane appeared in the late
1930s and large numbers were constructed. The BL-65 is powered by a
65 hp Lycoming engine. Over 1,000 Tiger Moths were built at Mascot in
Australia between 1940 and 1945. The MiG-23 arrived from the Czech
Republic in a deal which took a Dornier Do-28B to a parachute training
school in the European country.
This museum was only viewed through the windows.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND
SPACE: Haifa
This is the main technical museum in the country and its displays show
the development of industry in the country. The aviation section features
models of significant types along with displays showing the principles of
flight. Modern developments in many aspects of science are featured in
other areas. One section is devoted to Green energy and how this may
fulfil some needs of the country. Outside is a large science park.

This Australian built Tiger Moth is part of
the Paradive Museum fleet at Habonim.
